2019 FIBA World Cup Wednesday quarter-finals betting tips

FIBA Basketball World Cup quarter final predictions

Two FIBA Basketball World Cup quarter-final games will take place on Wednesday, September 11, with Team USA facing a tough game against France and Australia touted as heavy favourites against Czech Republic.

France vs USA (-8.5) O/U 164

Team USA had no problem beating Brazil 89-73 in their last game shooting a solid 52.2% from the floor and they played solid defense. Myles Turner and Kemba Walker each had 16 points in the game and the Yanks are 8.5-point betting favorites facing France.

The winner of this game faces the winner of the Argentina vs Serbia game in the 2019 FIBA World Cup semifinals.

France is known for their defense led by reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert but in their last game their D was not so great in a 100-98 loss to Australia. In the game they shot the rock well but allowed the Aussies to shoot 57.6% from the floor.

Evan Fournier is averaging over 20 ppg in the tournament for France and in the Australia loss went for 31 points after scoring 24 points in the previous game. Joe Ingles chimed in for 23 points in the Australia game and Gobert only had eight points and six boards. His defense inside will bey key, but the French also have to play better perimeter defense than they did in the Australia loss allowing them to shoot over 47% from three-point land.

The balanced USA team had four players score in double figures in the win over Brazil, but they are still a little shorthanded with Jayson Tatum out with an ankle injury.

After getting a scare from Turkey in their second game team USA they have not been tested since and in their last two games played the good teams of Greece and Brazil and won each game by 16 points. They will play well on both sides of the court and while not blowing out France they will win handily meaning they will also cover the spread.

Czech Republic vs Australia (-10.5) O/U 170

Australia heads into this game after a big win over France in their last game where they did not play great defense but shot over 57% from the floor.

The winner of this game faces the winner of the Spain vs Poland game in the 2019 FIBA World Cup semi-finals.

The Czech Republic lost their last game to Greece 84-77 after scoring 93 points in their previous game in a win over Brazil. In the loss to Greece the Czechs only shot 41.8% from the floor and they have to shoot the rock better facing the Aussies. Jaromir Bohacik had 25 points in the loss to Greece and leads the team averaging 17.3 ppg in the tournament Tomas Satoransky scored 21 points in the game but did not shoot over 42% and this duo has to score and shoot the rock well for a Czech team that is not deep.

Three players for Australia had at least 21 points in the win over France with Patty Mills leading the way with 30 points. The San Antonio Spurs guard has averaged 21.8 ppg in the World Cup and has shot at least 50% from the floor in his last four games. Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles had 23 points in the last game after totaling four points in his previous two games and he needs another solid scoring game against the Czechs.

The Aussies are a deeper, more balanced, and more talented team and that will show in this game where they will easily win and cover the 10.5-point spread.
