The next NBA legend has emerged as Kawhi Leonard played out of his skin to get the Raptors this far, but how will he fare when he has to guard a team filled with future Basketball Hall of Fame players?
Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were enormous in GSW’s victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, but it was Draymond Green who was most impressive.
In the medical room is 2018 NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant, whose calf strain has troubled him more than expected.
DeMarcus Cousins also sits out for the Warriors with his quadricep complaint, which has effectively ruled him out for the entire postseason.
The Raptors have all the momentum after defeating the Milwaukee Bucks, which looked unlikely when the series began 0-2.
Anything can happen in this match and the betting suggests it, with only a slight difference between the two teams in the odds for Game One.
Golden State Warriors vs Toronto Raptors Game One Tips
Kawhi Leonard to get a double-double @ -125 with Bovada
‘The Klaw’ has become one of the most loved NBA players after one of the most admirable playoff performances in recent history, with matches mirroring the greatness of LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Leonard has to carry the scoring department at times for the Raptors and he always pulls down rebounds. With an average of nine rebounds in the postseason and 31 points, Kawhi is very reliable on the stat sheet.
Draymond Green to get a triple-double @ +260 with Bovada
Green had a double-double in all four matches against the Blazers, including triple-doubles in the two away matches. Four of Draymond’s last 11 matches have been triple-doubles, with all four occurring when playing on the road. Kawhi Leonard can help guard Klay Thompson and Steph Curry, but he will have too many factors to worry about when guarding Green.
Steph Curry and Klay Thompson combine for 60 points @ +110 with Bovada
Kyle Lowry and Danny Green are old veterans who have had great NBA careers, but Lowry will struggle to keep up in this series. If Curry gets hot early, the entire match could become a shooting clinic with the splash brothers taking over. With Kevin Durant still sidelined, this will be a game where the guards dominate.
Golden State Warriors to win @ -104.17 with Bovada
Even though they are playing this match in Toronto, the Warriors have had much more rest than the Raptors and will be able to utilise their experience, slowing the game when needed and playing with pace when necessary. Most importantly, Steve Kerr will find a way to negate Kawhi Leonard.
