Angelique Kerber and Sloane Stephens were the big flops in the women’s singles, as both former winners failed to clear the first hurdle at Flushing Meadows this year.

More big names followed, with Simona Halep and Petra Kvitova losing in the second round and Ash Barty and Karolina Pliskova dropping out in the fourth.

Let’s see how the draw is shaping up for the rest of the tournament and check out the latest US Open tennis odds.

US Open men’s final prediction – Federer vs Nadal

With Djokovic out already, we are looking at another instalment of the greatest rivalry in modern sport.

Grigor Dimitrov and one of Stan Wawrinka and Daniil Medvedev are all that stand between Roger Federer and eighth appearance in the US Open final.

At the other end of the draw, sixth seed Alexander Zverev is the biggest threat to Rafael Nadal’s campaign after the fourth-round clash with Marin Cilic.

Online bookmaker Bovada is banking on a Federer vs Nadal final, with Rafa (+120) given a slight edge on Roger (+188) in the outright betting.

If it comes to pass, get on Federer in what might be his last competitive appearance at Flushing Meadows.

US Open women’s final prediction – Osaka vs Williams

Like the men’s draw, there are two standouts left in the 2019 US Open women’s singles.

Naomi Osaka is the defending champion and the +450 frontrunner in the top half alongside Canadian bolter Bianca Andreescu.

Serena Williams survived a spirited display from Caty McNally in the second round, but the six-time US Open champ has had no issues otherwise.

Now that Barty is out of the draw, there are no other major winners to prevent the +140 outright favourite from reaching the final.

Osaka beat Williams in straight sets in last year’s US Open final, so you can bet Serena will want to return the favour.
