The middle weekend is done and it’s down to business at the 2019 French Open.

Most of the big names are still kicking in the men’s singles draw, with Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Stan Wawrinka – all formers winners – already through to the quarter-finals.

Novak Djokovic will join them if he defeats Jan-Lennard Struff on Monday, while the likes of Juan Martin del Potro, Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev are also yet to complete their fourth-round matches.

The women’s draw is wide open after a brutal weekend that saw Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams both exit to unseeded opponents.

Ashleigh Barty, who was destined to run into Williams if they both reached the last eight, has plunged to +800 in the French Open title betting at Bovada.

There are still a few quarter-final slots to fill, but that won’t stop us finding some early value on the other fixtures.

Stan Wawrinka vs Roger Federer

Wawrinka +220
Federer -277.78

Federer has a whopping 22-3 lead on Wawrinka in singles play, but it is a different story when you only consider matches on clay.

Stan has won three of seven clashes with his countryman on the red stuff, the last of which was a straight-sets victory en route to the 2015 French Open title.

Federer has won six straight on hard courts since then, however, and should be the fresher man after Wawrinka spent five sets on court with Grigor Dimitrov.

Sloane Stephens vs Johanna Konta

Stephens -151.52
Konta +120

Both these players enjoyed routine wins over tall, hard-hitting opponents in the third round, with Konta beating Donna Vekic and Stephens downing Garbine Muguruza.

Those results set up an interesting clash between last year’s losing finalist and a player who is just returning to her best after a form slump.

Konta has beaten Stephens twice this year, most recently on the clay of Rome, so the value is with the Brit.

Marketa Vondrousova vs Petra Martic

Vondrousova -175.44
Martic +137

Vondrousova made minced meat of Anastasija Sevastova last time out, giving up only two games for the match.

The unseeded Czech teenager is yet to drop a set at this year’s French Open and starts as the favourite against Martic, who needed three sets to get past Kaia Kanepi.

While Vondrousova might be having a breakout tournament like Jelena Ostapenko did two years ago, it is hard to ignore the fact that Martic has beaten her four times out of four – two of those this year, one on clay in the Istanbul final.
