THE EPL returns on Wednesday after a thrilling weekend of FA Cup football that saw most Premier League sides spared the blushes of a loss to a lower League outfit.
One such side was Tottenham Hotspur who had Harry Kane to thank for salvaging a late equalizer that gifted them a replay with minnows Newport County, for a place in the fifth round of the domestic cup competition.
They may have taken a temporary leave of absence against the League Two side over the weekend, but Spurs will have to come to the fore when they face Manchester United during the week.
The Red devils are currently second of the table with 53 points, 12 points behind Manchester City, which had its hopes of going through the season unbeaten were thwarted by Liverpool a fortnight ago.
Despite the significant ground to cover, Jose Mourinho’s charges travel to London with the hopes of returning back to Old Trafford with a result; one that will conceivably pile pressure on the runaway League leaders.
Optimism abounds in the United camp given their rich vein of form; the most recent offering being their 4-0 annihilation of Yeovil Town in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
United have been efficient as the win over the Glovers was their fifth on the bounce and their sixth overall match without conceding a single goal.
The feel-good factor has however been cemented by the signing of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in a straight swap deal that saw midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan move to North London.
Alexis, who featured prominently in the win over Yeovil, is expected to make his Premier League debut for United on the road against Spurs. Jose Mourinho is set to field a full-strength side with no new injury concerns, save for Daley Blind, who has missed the last three matches due to an ankle ligament damage sustained in training. That notwithstanding, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly remained sidelined having been on a lengthy injury layoff.
The hosts on the other hand have plenty to ponder over with the trio of Danny Rose, Serge Aurier and Harry Winks poised to watch from the sidelines due to injuries. Mauricio Pochettino will be boosted by the return of Hugo Lloris and Christian Eriksen, who missed the last two matches with injuries.

Alexis Sanchez hit the ground running by setting up two goals during his United debut in the FA Cup, but the Chilean will above all else savor the prospect of starting against a side he has often bullied in the past.
The 29-year old has scored seven goals in Wembley, and will want to leave a lasting impression on the United faithful, so much for the winning mentality as it is for the responsibility that comes with adorning the revered number seven jersey.
Manchester Utd vs. Spurs match predictions and free tips
Mauricio Pochettino has largely been hailed for his lavish brand of football but Jose Mourinho has often gotten the better of him like it is second nature. Spurs lost the reverse fixture at Old Trafford courtesy of a solitary Anthony Martial goal and have recently collected three draws from their last five games in all competitions.
David De Gea will likely mount a credible challenge for the golden glove this season given his impermeable form in front of goal, but Harry Kane will not be denied!
