Cleveland vs. Boston Game 5 betting – stats, match-up analysis & tips

Celtics vs Cavs

Celtics vs CavsGame 5, Wednesday May 23, 8:30 PM EST at TD Garden Boston, MA

The best of seven series is tied 2-2

At Bovada this Game 2 is a PICK with the total sitting at 206.

After losing the first two games of this series in Boston, the Cavs have bounced back and have won the last two games at home to tie the series.

The Celtics are a perfect 9-0 at home in the playoffs and only 1-6 on the road. They still have home court advantage in this series, but are facing a hot Cleveland team with a hotter LeBron James.

While Cleveland had nine more turnovers in Game 4 (19-10) they shot 50.6% from the floor and held the Celtics to 41.2% shooting. The Cavs came out guns-a-blazing in Game 4, out-scoring the Celtics 34-18 in the first quarter. James went for 44 points in the game, which is the 6th time in these playoffs going for at least 40 points.

Kevin Love did not have the best Game 4 with only nine points on 3/12 shooting, but he did have 11 boards. Tristan Thompson came up big, going for a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards, George Hill chimed in for 13 as well, and Kyle Korver came off the bench and went for 14 points.

The Celtics had balance in Game 4 with every starter going for double figures, but they had no answer for James on defence and no starter for Boston shot over 50% from the floor. Jaylen Brown led the visitors going for 25 points, but was 10/23 from the floor and he and backcourt mate Terry Rozier (16 points 6/15 shooting) combined to miss 10 of their 15 3-pointers.

In the last 300 NBA playoff series’ only 20 teams have come back from an 0-2 deficit.

The Celtics made a fourth quarter run, but never got that close and they have to get off to a better start in Game 5. In Game 4 they fell behind by 19 points in the first half.

The Cavs are 3-4 on the road in this post-season.

While Boston has to get off to a better start in this game the Cavs also need to get off to a solid start and if they can do that they can help take the crowd out of the game and that would be HUGE.

Cleveland lost both games in Boston in this series by double figures.

Cleveland vs. Boston prediction

The home team has won every game in this series, but King James will help end that trend in this game. He will help take the crowd out of the game early and the Cavs will win, take a 3-2 lead in the series, and head home for Game 6 to try to close out the series.
