Sunday, April 29, 2018 – 8pm IST – M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
Royal Challengers Bangalore will be desperate to return to form when they face the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 29th match of the Indian Premier League in Bengaluru on Sunday.
Despite wholesale changes to their squad, Bangalore hasn’t been able to create the kind of impact which was expected of them before the start of the competition.
The Virat Kohli-led unit will rue the fact they lost its last match against Chennai despite looking to be in cruise control for much of the encounter.
The bowling lineup will certainly come under microscope for not being able to defend a score of 205 runs.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock delivered with the bat in the game against Chennai and notched up his first-half-century of this year’s competition.
He added 100 runs with AB De Villiers to put RCB in a strong position to post a mammoth score.

De Villiers has been in scintillating form to say the least as he has already scored 280 runs in six innings at an average of 56. He will be certainly keen to continue his rich vein of form in the next game as well.
RCB captain Kohli, whose captaincy has come under severe criticism after making tactical blunders in the previous game against Chennai, will have to bring his A-game to the table after having two relative failures with the bat.
New Zealand’s all-round duo of Corey Anderson, Colin de Grandhomme, along with Pawan Negi need to contribute with the bat.
In the bowling department, a lot was expected from off-spinner Washington Sundar, who has been expensive with the ball so far. Pacer Umesh Yadav and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal are the only positives for the team in the bowling lineup.
On the other hand, Kolkata have been also inconsistent with just three wins out of six played. Captain Dinesh Karthik will be hoping to see his team put a much better show, both with bat and ball, to upstage RCB in their backyard.
Chris Lynn produced a blazing innings of 74 runs against Kings XI Punjab and he certainly looked fluent at the crease.
KKR’s ploy of using Sunil Narine as makeshift opener has worked well. Narine has an exceptional batting record against RCB and will be keen to continue his good run.
Robin Uthappa and Karthik have been consistent with the bat, chipping with valuable contributions.
Nitish Rana has done exceedingly well with the bat, and has been valuable in the bowling department as well with crucial breakthroughs for the side. Kuldeep Yadav, Narine and Piyush Chawla have been excellent as spin trio for KKR.
