England vs. Belgium correct score odds & FIFA World Cup betting tips

England-v-Belgium

The two heavy weights of Group G in the 2018 FIFA World Cup will do battle on Thursday night, fresh off huge wins that have solidified their entry into the final group of 16 nations.

Bovada has England as the slight favorites in this Group G match at +160 with Belgium at +190 and a draw at +210. The Over/Under for this match is posted at 2.5 goals.

Both England and Belgium have six points in group play and each will advance to the knockout phase. While this match is a big one on paper to see who the winner is it may not really matter and because of that both squad may rest some key players. No matter where these teams finish they will be playing the top two teams from Group H, which will be Japan, Columbia, or Senegal. No matter who they face they will be the betting favorite to advance to the quarterfinals.

England has owned Belgium in their all-time soccer history with 15 wins and five draws and only one loss. Oh yeah, that loss came way back in 1936.

In their last matches England beat Panama 6-1 and Belgium beat Tunisia 5-2.

We mentioned key players resting and a couple may be Harry Kane from England, who lead the tournament with five goals and Romelu Lukaku from Belgium, who has four goals. Kane scored three goals in the England’s last match, which was a 6-1 drubbing against Panama, and it would not be a surprise if England manager Gareth Southgate holds him and some other starters out of this group encounter.

Both England and Belgium have scored eight goals in winning their first two World Cup matches.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has already said that he will give some rest to Lukaku, Eden Hazard, and Dries Mertens, who are all nursing minor injuries. This trio are the three starting attackers for the squad, so they will have to change their tactics and other players have to step up in the attack. They will go with a 3-5-2 formation with Thorgen Hazard and Michy Batshuayi being the main guys up front.

Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne and Thomas Meunier and England’s Loftus Cheek and Kyle Walker each have a uyellow card coming into this match and will miss the next one if they get one in this encounter. Another reason these players may not see the pitch in this match. De Bruyne is the leader of the solid midfield and his loss could be a big one.

Both teams are already through to the knockout stage and it looks likely each teams starting 11 will be very different in this match.

Each team has conceded two goals in their two matches playing much weaker teams.

This was supposed to be one of the bigger matches in the group stage, but with each team through many of the bigger starts are unlikely to be on the pitch. If there was ever a match to bet on a draw this is it and it will end 1-1.
