SPRING in Australia means two things – the weather is getting warmer and the horse racing is hitting its peak.
This weekend we have Victoria Derby day, the A-League, Premier League, NBA and NFL to keep us entertained, which means we have a multitude of options to choose from when putting together a wide ranging multi.
We have pored over the form, crunched the numbers and analysed every game to put together the best possible multi for the Cupsbetting.com.au readers and we are proud of what we are bringing to the table this weekend.
All the odds this weekend’s action were provided by Sportsbet.com.au.
Selections for the October 28-30 multi of the week:
Melbourne City to defeat Adelaide United ($1.75)
Astern to place in the Coolmore Stud Stakes ($1.50)
Arsenal to defeat Sunderland ($1.40)
New England Patriots to beat the Buffalo Bills ($1.40)
Combined multi value: $5.14 @ Sportsbet.com.au
Melbourne City vs. Adelaide United
Friday, October 28 from 7.50 pm AEDST AAMI Park, Melbourne
First leg of the weekend multi is an A-League match up between Melbourne City and Adelaide United.
Both teams suffered narrow losses last weekend at the hands of last minute winners and will be keen to atone, unfortunately for the Reds there is a huge gulf in class here.
The Reds have just one point to their name after three matches while City has six, and we believe it is an accurate representation of the season to date.
We are not expecting Adelaide to add to their points tally here. City should bounce back after their round three disappointment to record a comfortable home win.
Tip: Melbourne City to win – $1.75
Coolmore Stud Stakes
Saturday, 29 October from 2.25pm AEDST, Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne
It promises to be one of the races of the Melbourne spring and could potentially be the best sprint race of the year.
There is a plethora of Group 1 winning talent in this race but Godolphin runner Astern is a horse that has always been a Cupsbetting.com.au favourite and we are pumped to see him go around on Saturday.
The class of the field means we get overs on the price that he would normally pay to place even in a Group race and we are happy to snap up the $1.50 on Saturday.
Astern to place in the Coolmore Stud Stakes – $1.50
Sunderland vs. Arsenal
Saturday, October 29 from 10.30 pm AEDST Stadium of Light, Sunderland
Third leg of the multi sees the equal top of the table Arsenal traveling to the Stadium of Light to face the bottom of the ladder Sunderland.
The records of the two teams tells you all you need to know about this one – Arsenal are one of the title faourites and Sunderland is odds-on to be relegated.
Not only that, but the Gunners have dominated the Black Cats in recent times.
Arsenal has won six of the last eight matches between the two sides and have not lost to Sunderland since 2012.
Arsenal should easily account for Sunderland to keep our multi rolling into the final leg.
Tip: Arsenal to win – $1.40
Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots
Monday, 31 October from 4:00 am, Ralph Wilson Stadium, New York
Final leg of the weekend sport multi sees the New England Patriots travelling to the outskirts of New York to face the Bills.
The Pats have been formidable since quarterback Tom Brady’s return. Not only has TB12 got it done throwing the football but he has also brought the best out of Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski, who is back to his brilliant best.
The Bills have been one of the surprise packets of the year after an indifferent fortnight to start the season, but they may be without superstar running back Leshawn McCoy who injured his knee two weeks ago.
Without Shady McCoy we are favouring the Patriots. Their offense should be too explosive and they will not have the point scoring ability to match.
New England Patriots to win – $1.40
