Optimism abounds for the French national football team ahead of what is quite rightly the biggest match of their careers. Deemed as irreducible favorites even before the tournament kicked off a month ago, Les Bleus are poised to take on Croatia in the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup, with the showdown set to take place on Sunday evening in the Russian capital.
France booked their ticket to Moscow on Tuesday night after registering a marginal 1-0 win over Belgium in the first semi-final. The Belgian Red devils — imperious throughout the competition having amassed five wins from their five opening matches — looked to be on the front foot for many quotas, as they forced France to retreat back into their shell after a nervy start.
It was, to say the least, disappointing seeing the encounter end in a goalless draw at the interval, given the attacking enterprise exhibited by both sides. It however helps having a manager who captained his side to World Cup glory in his heydays, as Didier Deschamps’ charges emerged the stronger side at the restart, having weathered the initial storm.

France went on to steal the lead six minutes into the second half through Samuel Umtiti. The Barcelona defender drove a piercing header past Thibaut Courtois to score the only goal of the encounter, having connected with Antoine Griezmann’s precise delivery from a corner.
The goal helped ease the nerves among those of the French persuasion, yet still caused a seismic shift in the course of the match, as Belgium struggled to gain a foothold from there on in.
Even the marquee Romelu Lukaku, who made himself a presence in the tournament by netting four goals, was subdued with little supply coming his way, as Belgium’s ruthless clinical edge evaded them on the night.
The golden generation of Belgium football as such saw their grasp in the tournament loosened against a French side contented without the ball, yet with feverish counter attacking intent when on it.
Be that as it may, the French have it all to do when they take to the turf against a Croatian side that doesn’t necessarily bend out of shape when placed under pressure.
The Blazers came from a goal down to beat England 2-1 deep into extra time to book their place in the last two for the very first time in their history.
France vs. Croatia corner betting predictions
France’s only FIFA World Cup triumph traces back to the 1998 edition where they trounced Brazil 3-0 to lift the gold. The current team under the stewardship of Didier Deschamps has felt the harsh fangs of sustaining an agonizing defeat at a cup final; which makes them all the more prepared for the second bite at the cherry.
Kylian Mbappe has looked a constant threat with his blistering pace and fancy trickery on the ball, while Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez often make driving runs to assist with the attack- one that will make France emerge top in regard to corners.
