Free tips for your MLB parlay of the day

MLBMLB Multi for Saturday August 15

TEAMS have about fifty games left on the regular season schedule in MLB.

It won’t be long before the MLB playoffs are starting and you can already sense the urgency in some teams. Saturday is a busy day in baseball, as all thirty teams are in action.

My parlay features three games like usual, but this weekend’s parlay features Saturday match-ups only.

You won’t need to bet an open parlay with all of the games being played on the same day, but I still recommend joining the 5Dimes Sportsbook. 5Dimes boasts reduced juice (Dimelines) on MLB money lines, run lines and totals.

Major MLB market update

The Toronto Blue Jays are the hottest in baseball, they’ve won ten games in a row and just passed the New York Yankees for first place in the AL East. The Yankees have the longest active losing streak at five games.

It looks like the Royals have the AL Central locked up, as they’re 11.0 games ahead of the Minnesota Twins. The LAA had caught up to the Houston Astros, but the Angels are on a 3-game losing streak and 2.0 games back of the Astros now.

The St. Louis Cardinals (NL Central) and LAD (NL West) both lead their respective divisions still. The New York Mets are the hottest team in the National League – they’re 8-2 in their last ten games and lead Washington in the NL East.

Nationals vs. Giants predictions and odds

When: Saturday, August 15th 2015 at 10:05pm ET

Where: AT&T Park in San Francisco, California

San Francisco (60-53) and Washington (58-55) are both struggling – the Giants are 3-7 in their last ten and the Nationals are 4-6 in their last ten. These two teams start a 4-game series tonight (Thursday) at AT&T Park.

However, this is a great spot for the Nationals to get back on track, despite being on the road.

The Giants offense has disappeared. They’ve now been shutout in two of their last three games (Cubs & Astros). SF will send Jake Peavy 2-5 (3.75 ERA & 1.19 WHIP) to the mound. He has pitched great, but hasn’t received run support.

Peavy has a loss and two no decisions in his last three starts, despite giving up just 3 runs and 14 hits.

Gio Gonzalez 9-4 (3.50 ERA & 1.42 WHIP) is almost tossing a strikeout per inning (111 SO’s in 123.1 IP). Gonzalez is hot – he has only allowed more than 2 ER’s in one of his last eleven starts and he silenced the Giants last month.

Washington are actually 3-0 in the H2H series this season.

This game will have a low over/under and I lean under, but my pick is on the Nats to win.

Tigers vs. Astros predictions and odds

When: Saturday, August 15th 2015 at 7:10pm ET

Where: Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas>

Houston (62-53) and Detroit (55-59) are both off today, but start a 3-game series on Friday night.

The Astros need to wake up quickly, as they’re on a 3-7 slide and have the Angels gaining ground. The Tigers are 5-5 in their last ten games and they still have a great shot at earning a wild card in the American League.

Justin Verlander 1-5 (4.57 ERA & 1.25 WHIP) is pitching for the Tigers – despite his struggles I’m hoping we get a great price on the Astros. Houston will send Collin McHugh 13-6 (4.22 ERA & 1.32 WHIP) to the mound.

McHugh is having a great August – he has pitched 13 innings, while giving up 13 hits and 3 ER’s. McHugh played Detroit back in May on the road and he lost after giving up 3 runs, but McHugh is 9-2 at Minute Maid Park.

Both teams score a lot of runs – the Tigers rank 6th (4.39 RPG) and the Giants rank 7th (4.37 RPG).However, the Astros have more pop in their line-up. Houston still ranks 1st in the majors in home runs (1.37 HR’s per game).

Verlander is a mess and McHugh flies under the radar, as he isn’t a household name.

Bet on the Astros to get the win in this match-up on Saturday. The Tigers are 2-1 in the H2H series in 2015, but those games were played in Detroit, now the Astros are at home where they’re way better.

Houston are 38-18 at home and only 24-35 on the road.

Pirates vs. Mets predictions and odds

When: Saturday, August 15th 2015 at 7:10pm ET

Where: Citi Field in Queens, New York

I really like the Mets (62-52) at home against the Pirates (65-46) on Saturday night.

First off, the Mets are 41-18 at Citi Field, plus the Pirates struggle on the road (26-28). The Pirates have lost two in a row heading into tonight’s game against the Cardinals, whereas the Mets have won three in a row.

These teams are heading in opposite directions and the Pirates may run out of steam in the wild card race in the NL. The Mets Jon Niese 7-9 (3.46 ERA & 1.31 WHIP) and the Pirates Charlie Morton 7-4 (4.48 ERA & 1.36 WHIP) are starting.

Niese has been on fire – allowing 4 ER’s and 16 hits in his last three starts (20 IP’s). He also has 17 strikeouts during that same span. Morton has now given up 3 ER’s or more in four of his last five starts and hasn’t looked good.

The Mets still rank 29th in runs scored (3.69 RPG), but the offense has been clicking since Yoenis Cespedes joined the team at the deadline. In August, the Mets are scoring an average of 5.6 RPG through twelve games.

Until the Mets cool down I won’t be fading them.

Remember, it’s always a good idea to bet these picks straight up and then together as a 3-teamer parlay.
