#4 Gonzaga (19-2) vs. BYU Cougars (13-9) – 11:00 PM EST, Thursday, January 31 at Marriott Center
Betting Line: Gonzaga -14
Over/Under: 167 at Bovada
Gonzaga will ride a dominant 10-game winning streak into its NCAA battle with the dangerous BYU in what is shaping as an interesting match on Thursday night.
Gonzaga is the fourth-ranked team in the nation that has only had two losses on the season thus far — against North Carolina and a Tennessee side which is currently the number one team in the nation.
The Bulldogs are the highest-scoring team in the nation, putting up an average of 91.4 ppg and in their last game they blew out Santa Clara 98-39.
In the Bulldogs 10-game win streak they have won every game by double digits, beating their opponents by an average of 36.2 ppg.
BYU has won four of their last five games and are tied with San Francisco at 5-2 in WCC play, while they both trail Gonzaga, who are a perfect 7-0 in conference play. The Cougars can light it up, but so can their opponents, as their defense is their clear weakness, ranking a horrible 309th in the nation in points allowed.
Last season at BYU the Bulldogs beat the Cougars 79-65 and then lost badly to them 74-54 in the conference title game.
This season BYU is 10-1 at home and Gonzaga is 4-1 on the road.
This season Gonzaga is 15-6 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 10-11 and BYU is at 9-13 ATS with an Over/Under record of 11-11.
This is the first game between these teams this season.
Gonzaga is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four road games against BYU.
Gonzaga has been lighting their opponents up in their 10-game win streak and in their last game they more than blew out Santa Clara beating them 98-39. They outscored the Broncos 53-17 in the first half and for the game they shot a legit 51.4% from the floor and they held Santa Clara to a paltry FG% of only 27.1%.
Not only did Gonzaga beat Santa Clara senseless in their last game, but that game was in Santa Clara as well. In the laugher, every single Bulldogs starter went for at least 13 ppg, Josh Perkins led the team with 18 points, and Rui Hachimura and Zach Norvell Jr. each had 19 points. The Bulldogs have four players on the season averaging over 11 ppg led by Hachimura (19.9 ppg).
Hachimura has toned it down in the scoring department for the last few games, but the Zags keep winning and 2nd leading scorer Brandon Clarke is averaging 16.3 ppg, but has not surpassed his season average in his last three games.
BYU was at home in their last game beating St. Mary’s 71-66 where they were fortunate to lean on the board work, In a game where both teams shot nearly the same FG% the Cougars had 15 turnovers and only converted two, but had 17 offensive rebounds and gave up 11.
In the win over St. Mary’s Yoeli Childs led BYU with 23 points on 10/24 shooting and also had 11 rebounds and TJ Haws had 17 points on only 4/.12 shooting. They are also the top two scorers on the season with Childs averaging nearly a double-double at 22.3 ppg and 9.7 rpg and Hawks is averaging 17.6 ppg. Childs and Hawks can score, but the BYU defense will be more important in this game facing Gonzaga, who are the highest scoring team in college basketball.

Gonzaga Bulldogs vs. BYU Cougars betting predictions
Gonzaga is smoking-hot and have been crushing their opponents in their 10-game win streak, but the Cougars will give them a game in this conference matchup.
They may not get the win, but at home and primed for a big game BYU will, at least, cover the spread.
