Is there a new sheriff in town? The Chiefs are undefeated and take their perfect record to New England to face the Patriots in this fascinating NFL showdown.
Second year quarterback Patrick Mahomes has to be an early season MVP candidate and he leads the Kansas City offense that is balanced and ranks second in the NFL in points per game. They are coming off an impressive win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in their last game and they can really send a message that they are for real with a road win over the Pats this Sunday night.
The Patriots are at 3-2 and while they have issues at the wide receiver position they have won their last two games where they scored 38 points in each game. Tom Brady has been solid as usual, but not putting up the big numbers we are used to seeing. Still, New England ranks tied for ninth in points per game and their defense has been a difference maker as well ranking ninth in points allowed per game.
In the season opener last season in New England the Chiefs beat the Patriots 42-27.
This season the Chiefs are 5-0 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 3-2 with the Patriots at 3-2 ATS with an Over/Under record of 2-3.
In their last game the Chiefs remained unbeaten in their 30-14 win over the Jaguars, who made the AFC title game last season. Kansas City jumped out to a 20-0 halftime lead and while they gave up more yards in the game (502-424) they forced four turnovers. Mahomes passed for 313 yards, but did not have a touchdown and threw his first two interceptions of the season.
Mahomes has played great, but it helps to have a slew of weapons such as tight end Travis Kelce, wide receivers Sammy Watkins and Tyreek Hill, who combined for 239 receiving yards in the Jacksonville game, and Kareem Hunt, who rushed for 87 yards against Jax. The KC offense will be facing off with a Pats’ defense that ranks 14th against the pass and 21st against the run.
The Patriots are coming off a 38-24 win over the Indianapolis Colts in their last game where they had one fewer yard overall., but Brady kept saving the day. He threw a touchdown pass to the recently acquired Josh Gordon and he has Julian Edelman back in the fold after his four-game suspension. Sony Michel rushed for 98 yards and in the win the Pats may have gave the NFL notice that they are back and their wide receiver issues have been resolved.
Can the Chiefs contain Brady. Rob Gronkowski and a Patriots offense that is playing with confidence and has scored 38 points in their last two games? Kansas City has been stellar on the offensive side of the football, but their defense has had some problems and on the season they rank second to last in the league defending the pass and 24th defending the run.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots betting prediction
The Chiefs are the upstart team while the Patriots have been the best in the AFC for the last 15 or so seasons.
While the Chiefs want to send a message in this game that they are the team to beat in the AFC they are still not, as the Pats hold that distinction.
The Patriots are the team that will send a message stating they are still around and at home and on Sunday night, New England will win and cover the spread sending Kansas City to their first loss.
