Lukaku scoring odds & tips – Belgium vs. Tunisia World Cup betting

Belgium v Tunisia

Belgium v Tunisia

There will be a thick air of desperation when Tunisia takes on tournament favorites Belgium in the second round match of Group G of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The match — which is scheduled for Saturday afternoon — will take place at the Spartak Stadium; home of 10-time Russian Premier League champions Spartak Moscow.

Tunisia began their World Cup campaign with meagre returns after sustaining a detrimental 2-1 defeat to England on Monday night. The Three Lions went ahead in the eleventh minute through a Harry Kane strike, only to rescind the lead ten minutes before the break via a penalty.

Manchester City fullback Kyle Walker was held culpable for elbowing Fakhereedine Ben Youssef, resulting in the awarding of the penalty which Ferjani Sassi maintained a cool head to convert, despite Jordan Pickford’s fingertip touch on it.

The North Africans proved a hard nut to crack after the interval but England were determined to ascertain that they were not just there to make up the numbers- as was the case four years ago in Brazil.

Harry Kane once again proved to be the drive and inspiration behind the team, as the Tottenham Hotspur striker scored the winner in stoppage time to secure maximum points for the Three Lions.

If Tunisia felt they were hard done by in conceding a last minute winner, then there will be little along the line of complaints when they face a stronger, well-oiled metronomic side in the form of Belgium.

The Red devils — positioned third in the latest FIFA rankings behind Brazil and World Champions Germany — made a predictably blistering start to the tournament by registering a thrilling 3-0 win over Panama in their group opener.

Panama — who were making their maiden appearance at the World Cup finals — looked to have weathered the storm after reaching the halfway mark without conceding a goal. The Europeans nonetheless emerged stronger after the interval, as Dries Mertens found the opener with a sumptuous volley two minutes after the restart.

Romelu Lukaku connected with Kevin De Bruyne’s incisive cross to double the lead for Belgium in the 69th minute, before putting the result beyond doubt with a cheeky flick six minutes later.

Although Roberto Martinez played down the achievement given the quality of the opposition, the Belgium manager will be pleased having secured maximum points in convincing fashion.

In spite of the fact that Belgium and England all reaped three points from their respective matches, the former are at the summit of Group G by virtue of goal difference. Tunisia are third havings conceded fewer goals in their loss, as debutants Panama round off the group in fourth.

Romelu Lukaku continued with his fine club form but launching Belgium’s World Cup bid with a brace against Panama. The goals ensured that the Manchester United striker is already on double figures at the World Cup finals, having found the back of the net just once during his entire 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Although the South Americans offered precious little in attack, the 25-year old proved he was the don of the show, as he led from the front to put Belgium in cruised control with his 15th goal in 10 international appearances.

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to lead the race for the golden boot having scored his fourth goal of the tournament during Portugal’s 1-0 win over Morocco, and is closely followed by Russia’s Denis Cheryshev and Diego Costa of Spain – both on three goals.

Lukaku isn’t far behind with his two goals from one game, and could as such increase his tally given the preeminence of attacking players surrounding him.

Belgium vs. Tunisia match prediction

A win could massively boost Tunisia’s hopes seeing as their final clash will be against Panama, but the Belgians are high on confidence having ran amok in their first match of the competition.

Belgium are, alongside England, firm favorites to advance into the knock out stages, which is why one would only envisage a victory for Lukaku and co.
