Mo Salah scoring odds and betting – Everton vs. Liverpool EPL tips

Liverpool v Everton EPL

Liverpool v Everton EPLSaturday, April 7 – 12:30p.m Local time – Goodison Park, Liverpool, United Kingdom

Liverpool will make the short trip to Goodison Park for an early fixture in what will be a fabulous day of Premier League football.

The Merseyside derby promises to be a mouth-watering affair and will set the tone for the Manchester derby, whose outcome will have a bearing on the summit of the 2017/18 Premier League table.

The Reds head into the derby after an exultant night of Champions League football in which they, against the court of public opinion, mercilessly drubbed Manchester City 3-0 at Anfield on Wednesday.

With three goals scored, a clean sheet and the possibility of launching a killer punch with an away goal during the return leg next week, Liverpool potentially has one leg in the semi-final of the Champions League.

Everton has had an emotional rollercoaster of a season despite spending a whooping £142m in signings last summer. The Toffees were precariously poised for the drop, one that saw Ronald Koeman sacked caretaker manager David Unsworth installed. Even so, the results didn’t change for the better, prompting the board to appoint survival specialist Sam Allardyce. Everton has since moved to the top half of the Premier League standings under the tutelage of the former England boss, as they sit ninth on 40 points; 26 above Liverpool in third.

Allardyce will be without key players such as the likes of Gylfi Sigurdsson, James McCarthy, Eliaquim Mangala and Mason Holgate, but that may not necessarily change his overall approach to the encounter.

Liverpool’s Joel Matip has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a thigh injury, while Adam Lallana may play again before the end of the campaign after the midfielder’s latest injury setback that came during Liverpool’s 2-1 win away to Crystal Palace last weekend.

Emre Can missed the midweek European encounter with a back problem but stands a chance of being part of the match day squad. The Reds’ injury woes however don’t end there, as Joe Gomez is further sidelined with an ankle injury.

Seeing as Liverpool has multiple injury concerns, Jurgen Klopp won’t have much option but to field a similar team to the one that thrashed City midweek, despite having the all-decisive second leg of the Champions League quarter-final next week.

Mohamed Salah makes a revered and prolific forward for someone quite guarded and soft-spoken. The diminutive Egyptian has sprung into life on his debut season at Liverpool despite having a poor first spell in the Premier League with Chelsea, in which he was loaned to Fiorentina and Roma before the move to the latter club translated into a permanent transfer.

His razor sharp finishing has him only two goals shy of reaching the illustrious 40-goal mark, which has not been attained by an English club since Cristiano Ronaldo achieved the landmark during the 2007/08 campaign with Manchester United.

Although the 25-year old was hauled off soon after the restart against City with a suspected groin injury, Salah stands a good chance of thumping the leather into the back of the net against their Merseyside rivals.

Everton vs. Liverpool match prediction

Liverpool has been a club on a downward spiral over the last decade, but their recent resurgence under Jurgen Klopp can only mean better days lay ahead.

Although they have never won the Premier League title, finishing above Manchester United would mean the world to them, not just for the historic rivalry, as it would also signify that they lost the title to an expensively assembled team they had beaten twice in the same season.

This would go a long way in solidifying their summer preparations, as they look to mount an even more credible title challenge next season.

Prediction: Liverpool to win – $1.90 on William Hill
