Sadio Mane scoring betting – Tottenham vs. Liverpool Week 5 EPL tips

Spurs v Liverpool week 5

Spurs v Liverpool week 5
Football lovers around the world will be relieved with the return of English Premier League, following the end of the torturous international break.

The return of the EPL will see the might of Liverpool make the trip to Wembley to face Tottenham Hotspur; with the early kickoff inescapably promising to be the most exciting, high profile match of the weekend.

Liverpool will march to the English capital buoyant as ever, as they currently lead the Premier League standings having registered a 2-1 win away to Leicester City right before the international break.

Sadio Mane, who has been imperious since the start of the season, steered the Reds into an early lead with a vicious left footed strike that thrilled the away end at the King Power. It goes without saying that Andrew Robertson equally deserved the credit for the tenth minute breakthrough, as the Scotland international made a bullish run on the left-hand side before delivering the cutback for Mane.

Jurgen Klopp’s charges looked on course to yet another comfortable victory when Roberto Firmino headed in James Milner’s corner to set up a two-goal cushion right at the stroke of half time; Leicester City this time becoming perpetrators of their own downfall with their poorly executed zonal marking.

It looked like an easy win and it should have been were it not for the bizarre piece of footwork in the 63rd minute by goalkeeper Alisson that gifted the Foxes with a goal. The £67m signing from AS Roma looked inconsolable after the goal, as his baffling showboating saw him hounded off the ball by Kelechi Iheanacho who provided the assist for Rachid Ghezzal.

Although the gaffe saw Liverpool live on the edge in the ensuing minutes, the Reds were still able to cling onto their lead to register four wins in their first four League matches for the first time in nearly three decades.

Whereas Liverpool upheld their perfect start to the season, Tottenham on the other hand fell to their first defeat of the campaign after a shocking 2-1 battering away to Watford. Despite finding it hard to break down the hosts throughout the first half, Spurs fortuitously went ahead eight minutes after the restart following an own goal by Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The Hornets however remained unflappable as they restored parity in the 69th minute through their inspirational skipper Troy Deeney, before going all the way to steal the spoils ten minutes later with the winner scored by Craig Cathcart.

The defeat left a bad taste on the mouths of the visiting supporters, more so because they had to put up with the thought of a loss for nearly two weeks due to the international break. Nonetheless, Spurs will be looking to bounce back and what better way to do it than against the league leaders.

Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli will have to pass a late fitness test ahead of Saturday’s match, whereas Erik Lamela, Victor Wanyama and Juan Foyth are out of the contest with various injuries.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster are the most notable long term injury absentees for Liverpool, but centre-back Dejan Lovren looks shockingly poised to spend an extra month on the sidelines due to an aggravated stomach injury sustained at the World Cup with Croatia.

Whether it’s as a consequence of the shoulder injury he sustained during Liverpool’s Champions League final loss to Real Madrid, or simply because he is going through a rough patch, there is no denying that Mohamed Salah has yet to hit the peaks he attained last season.

The 26-year old has found the back of the net twice thus far in the Premier League, but his catalogue of misses is a growing concern for Liverpool supporters. Luckily for Klopp however, his side’s attacking potency hasn’t dried up due to the prolific nature of Sadio Mane.

The Senegalese shares a lead of four goals on the goal-scoring charts with Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic, and at the moment looks like Liverpool’s most probable goal scorer.

Tottenham vs. Liverpool betting predictions

Liverpool have had an air-tight defense that hadn’t conceded a goal in the Premier League this season until their last outing. Spurs have conversely kept only one clean sheet in four matches, but will nevertheless still fancy their chances against the league leaders.
