Sofapaka v KCB

Sofapaka v KCB
Sofapaka will play host to Kenya Commercial Bank on Sunday afternoon in the Kenyan Premier League, with the encounter penciled to take place at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Batoto Ba Mungu returns back to the Kenyatta Stadium on the back end of a blistering 2-2 draw with Kakamega Homeboyz on the road over the weekend. The encounter appeared to be an evenly matched contest as both sides showed their attacking fangs during the opening half hour; with Homeboyz having the better of the chances.

It was however the visitors who to struck first blood, as they found the opening goal eight minutes before the interval courtesy of Umar Kasumba. Receiving the ball right on the edge of the box, the Ugandan thumped the leather with much conviction; firing Batoto Ba Mungu into the lead.

Homeboyz forward Maxwell Ravel made defender Willis Ouma pay for his miscued clearance, as the Cameroonian clinically finished to restore parity in the 65th minute. A deliberate handball inside the area ten minutes later saw Sofapaka punished once again for their ineptitude, as Allan Wanga converted from 12 yards to give the faithful at the Bukhungu Stadium something to celebrate.

Their celebrations were nevertheless short-lived, as Brian Magonya hit an absolute belter from outside the box in the second minute of added time to ensure John Baraza’s side emerged from Western Kenya with a thoroughly deserved point.

The 2009 KPL champions as such remain fifth on the log having salvaged a point during the Saturday afternoon tie; one that has left them a point behind fifth placed Tusker, who have played two fewer matches, and seven points away from league leaders Bandari.

Kenya Commercial Bank was similarly forced to share the spoils last weekend, as they registered a one-all draw with Chemelil Sugar at the Chemelil Sports Complex. The Bankers took the lead within the opening eleven minutes, but a controversial penalty awarded at the stroke of half time saw KCB drop points for the second consecutive week.

The draw saw Sammy Omollo’s side retain their place in 12th with a total of 16 points from 15 games.

Sofapaka vs. Kenya Commercial Bank betting predictions

Sofapaka looked to be suitable contenders for the title at the very start of the campaign but their bid for the title was waylaid by a string of poor results in January. John Baraza’s side has however been making amends for their early season slump, with pivotal wins against Kariobangi Sharks, Nzoia Sugar and Mathare United.

KCB on the other hand has been nothing like a side that missed top flight football for the last three years, as the Bankers still have the capacity to trouble the more established sides in the league—if their result against Bandari, Western Stima and Gor Mahia is anything to go by.
