Winning the Champions League is a feat that many dream of, but only a selected few actually get to achieve.

There will be a perpetual aura of positivity when Tottenham Hotspur welcomes Juventus for their second and final leg of the Champions League round of 16.

There was a time many moons ago when you had to beat an Italian team to win the Champions League. It may be a tad bit early to brand the Spurs as favorites, but advancing into the quarter-finals certainly edges them closer to Europe’s most coveted prize.

It will be a case of either sink or swim when both sides meet for the final showdown, although Tottenham have the upper hand having scored two away goals in the opening leg.

The game may however take a different complexion as Juve- last year’s finalist- will be looking to take full advantage of the intricacies and ephemera of the away goal rule, while Spurs will be hoping to stage a quarter-final appearance in the Champions League for only the second time in their history.

Spurs may be in a perilous position in the Premier League, fourth on the table with just a single point above Chelsea in fifth, but their 2-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday puts them in high spirits ahead of the tie.

Juve’s marginal 1-0 win away to Lazio over the weekend compounded pressure on leaders Napoli whilst still saving the best for the Tottenham trip, which all the more sets the mood for a thrilling European night in the English capital.

Moussa Dembele, who played a pivotal role at the Allianz Stadium, remains a doubt for Tottenham after hobbling off with a knock over the weekend, while Toby Alderweireld doesn’t stand a chance of featuring having been ruled out of the tie with injury.

Ivory Coast international Serge Aurier will miss the match via suspension after collecting his third yellow card of the Champions League campaign during his distasteful outing in Turin.

The visitors on the other hand will be without the services of the injured trio of Juan Cuadrado, Mattia De Sciglio and Federico Bernardeschi.

Harry Kane has a deftness of touch that embodies a stylish reflection of both guile and personal panache; which is why it is no surprise that the Real Madrid’s and PSG’s of this world have shown a tentative interest in signing the England international.

Tottenham have simply been imperious at their temporary home of Wembley. Of the 15 games played at the national stadium this season, Spurs have only drawn four and lost once; their only defeat at the venue inflicted by Chelsea last August.

Juventus on the other hand head into the decisive fixture with the experience of playing in two of the last three Champions League finals, and a longstanding run of 17 matches without a defeat in all competitions.

Nonetheless, Spurs, who have been in fluid form at home, have the best likelihood of advancing into the next round.
