The New Orleans Saints are aiming at five straight wins without their star quarterback as they head to the Windy City to take on the Chicago Bears this weekend.

The Saints are sitting at 5-1 and have won all four games with Drew Brees out. Teddy Bridgewater has played well and the New Orleans defense played great in their last game, which was a 13-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bears are coming off a bye week and in their last game had their three-game win streak snapped with a 24-21 loss to the Oakland Raiders. QB Mitchell Trubisky was back at practice on Monday after missing the Oakland defeat due to injury and is listed as questionable for this game.

Chicago’s defense has been great this season, only giving up an average of 13.8 ppg. Their defense has had to be good since their offense has struggled and only ranks 27th in the league, putting up an average of 17.4 ppg.

In their win over the Jags the Saints outgained them by 100 yards (326-226) and defended the run well, holding Jacksonville to 75 rushing yards only averaging 3.1 yards per carry.

Bridgewater was 24/36 for 240 yards with a touchdown and no interceptions and his early fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Jared Cook sealed the deal. Since taking over for the injured Brees he has passed for 1,089 yards with seven touchdowns and two interceptions.

The Saints rushed for 104 yards in the win over Jacksonville with Latavius Murray leading the way with 44 yards. Alvin Kamara only rushed for 31 yards at 2.8 yards per carry and has not averaged over four yards per carry in his last two games.

The Bears are led by a defense that ranks 10th in the league against the pass and fifth against the run. However, in the loss to the Raiders they gave up 396 total yards, including 169 rushing yards.

In that game the Bears only had 236 total yards, only rushed for 42 yards, and had two turnovers. Chase Daniel has taken over for the injured Trubisky and in the Oakland game accounted for both turnovers but passed for 231 yards with two touchdowns. Trubisky has not looked good under center this season with only three TD, which came in a win over the weak Washington Redskins.

David Montgomery led the Bears with only 25 rushing yards in the Raiders loss and while leading the team on the season with 225 yards he has failed to average over 2.5 yards per carry in his last two games. On the season he is only averaging 3.3 yards per carry for a Chicago rushing offense that ranks 26th in the league.

The New Orleans defense has stepped up with Brees out and for the season they rank 11th in the league defending the pass.

Saints @ Bears betting predictions

New Orleans Saints +3 at -111.11 with Bovada

The Bears defense took a hit in their last game and with the offense they have they cannot afford to let that happen again. They have struggled to run the ball and only rank 30th in the league in passing yards per game. Things will not get any better on that front even if Trubisky returns. This will be a low-scoring defensive battle and while the Bears may get the win, the Saints will cover the spread.
