NCAA Football odds: Ohio State and Michigan top Big 10 betting

Ohio State NCAAF betting news

Ohio State NCAAF betting news

NCAA Football betting sites have Ohio State and Michigan as the teams to beat in the Big 10, but a few other teams may throw a wrench in the mix this upcoming season.

Ohio State Big 10 odds

+110 at Bovada
Ohio State will be a very different team this season with head coach Urban Myer gone as well as QB Dwayne Haskins and DE Nick Bosa, who are both now in the NFL. Ryan Day takes over the team and Georgia transfer Justin Fields takes over under center. J.K. Dobbins (1,053 yards and 10 TD last season) and Mike Weber are back to man the backfield, K.J. Hill leads a talented WR corps, and the TE position is solid and deep. While Bosa and a few others are gone the defense returns some key guys such as Chase Young (9.5 sacks) and while the D should be solid again there are concerns against the run. The Buckeyes may be tested on the road early facing Nebraska, but like last season the finale at Michigan may determine the Big 10 winner.

Michigan Big 10 odds

+248 at Bovada
Michigan had 10 wins last season but, yet again, could not get past Ohio State. Shea Patterson returns after a solid season at QB, but the RB position will have new faces with the top two backs gone. The offensive line will be the strength in attack and the team is high on freshman RB Zach Charbonnet. The WR corps is talented but was beset by injuries last season. The defense not only lost many starters but also the defensive coordinator, so the new guys have to produce right away. The schedule favors the Wolverines, especially with the season finale against Ohio State at home, but they have to face Penn State on the road.

Penn State Big 10 odds

+1000 at Bovada
Penn State have a lot of talent, but most of it is young and unproven. QB Sean Clifford had only seven attempts under center last season, KJ Hamler (42 catches, 754 yards) is the only WR with over 10 career receptions, and Ricky Slade leads a very young RB corps. The Nittany Lions’ defense may have to really get it done with the inexperience on the offensive side of the ball, but that should be a strong unit with DE Yetur Gross-Matos and DT Robert Windsor returning after combining for 15.5 sacks last term. While Penn State will host Michigan, they must face Ohio State and Michigan State on the road.

Wisconsin Big 10 odds

+1450 at Bovada
Wisconsin were disappointing with an 8-5 record last season. They had too many turnovers and their QB play was poor. Jack Coen had five starts last season and may get the nod this season, but it might not be long until star five-star recruit Graham Mertz takes over. RB Jonathan Taylor is the big gun on offense after rushing for nearly 2,200 yards last season and he is a Heisman Trophy candidate. The WR corps was inconsistent last season and the offensive line will have a few new faces. The defense was the strength of the Badgers in 2018 and should be again this season. They face Michigan at home in their first conference game and have to hit the road to play Ohio State.

Nebraska (+1800) finished 4-8 last season but may make a big jump this season if the defense can improve. QB Adrian Martinez is a Heisman candidate and the offense has weapons, but the defense allowed 433.5 ypg and 31.3 ppg last year.

Michigan State (+2000) may be a dark horse, but they have to stay healthy, which they were not last season. The offense was not the same after Brian Lewerke went down, but he is back and primed for a big season. The WR corps is solid but the RB position is a question. The Spartans led the nation in run defense last season and the overall D should be a good one, but all eyes will be on Lewerke and the offense.

Iowa (+2500) return QB Nate Stanley, who has 52 TD in the last two seasons, but with him as a starter the Hawkeyes are only 9-9 in Big 10 play. He has to lead the team to conference wins for Iowa to have any chance, as the rest of the offense is solid, even though their top two TEs bolted for the NFL, and the defense will be a good one again, especially up front.
