Bec Rawlings has signed on for the first edition of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

The Australian MMA star fought in the Ultimate Fighting Championship as recently as April, when she lost to Ashlee Evans-Smith at UFC 223.

The UFC dumped Rawlings after that defeat, her fourth in a row, but ‘Rowdy’ is looking forward to a new challenge in BKFC.

“IT’S OFFICIAL,” she wrote on Twitter this week.

“I’m fighting on Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship!

“Yeah you heard me… I get to punch people in the face with these hands, BARE.”

The Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship kicks off on June 2 at the Cheyenne Ice & Events Center in Wyoming.

Featuring 12 fights and an eight-man heavyweight contest, it is the first legal, officially sanctioned bare-knuckle boxing event in the United States since 1889.

Organisers have gone to great lengths to ensure BKFC blends authentic bare-knuckle fighting with modern enhancements that aid both the fighter’s safety and the viewer’s experience.

“Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship will combine the incredibly rich history of bare knuckle under the Broughton and London Prize Ring Rules, with a modern rule set for this generation,” said David Feldman, president of Bare Knuckle FC.

“By showcasing professional fighters from a wide array of disciplines, we want to answer the question: Who is the best pure striker on the planet?”
