William Hill adds betting facilities to racetracks in the UK

William Hill is expanding its betting facilities at racetracks thanks to a recent deal with the Arena Racing Company in the UK.

The UK-based betting company will offer on-course betting facilities at Doncaster, Lingfield Park, Royal Windsor, Southwell, Wolverhampton, and Worcester racetracks.

Racegoers have been without betting shops at the tracks since January due to a commercial stand off between Ladbrokes Coral Group and the ARC.

Although Ladbrokes and The Racing Partnership, which operates at 15 ARC courses, ended the dispute over broadcasting rights, William Hills has stepped up to take over six of the courses.

Punters at Doncaster, where William Hill will sponsor the St Leger for the first time next month, have been able to enjoy the betting facilities since June.

William Hill St Leger Festival will run at Doncaster racecourse from Wednesday, September 13 to Saturday, September 16.

Betting facilities at Wolverhampton and Royal Windsor will open this week, and Southwell’s betting facilities will open on Sunday, August 20.

William Hill is aiming to open its facilities at Lingfield Park by the end of August.

The delays are a result of the licensing approval process by the UK Gambling Commission, according to the Racing Post.

William Hill’s Divisional Director for the Northern Region, Steven White, said the betting facilities have already shown promising results.

“The William Hill facilities at Doncaster are already proving popular so we are excited about extending our presence to the on-course betting facilities at six of ARC’s racecourses,” he said.

“On course customers will receive the full William Hill service enabling them to bet on other courses as well as other sports while viewing the best of the day’s televised sporting action.”

William Hill is a strong contender in the UK racing industry, with the company securing a long-term media rights deal with The Racing Partnership in December 2016.

ARC director of operations, Mark Spincer, said the company is pleased “to work with William Hill to ensure all these betting facilities will be open in the coming weeks.”

“As a leading betting operator and key sponsor partner of ARC, William Hill’s facilities are well placed to meet all customers’ needs and thrive in the years ahead,” he added.

ARC Director of External Affairs, Susannah Gil, also told Totally Gaming that “by partnering with William Hill and ensuring the facilities are open we’re providing customers at our racecourses with a complete betting experience as they can enjoy the action on the track while also being able to watch and bet on other race meetings and sports.”

William Hill also operates an online betting site where you can claim a welcome bonus as a new player or opt in for regular offers by entering promo codes.
