Online bookmakers in the United States have already started offering mobile sports betting, while others plan to commence soon, eying off a slice of the NFL action in the coming weeks.

Among the companies already offering mobile sports betting in New Jersey are fantasy sports giant FanDuel, which runs sports book at the Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, and William Hill US, which operates sportsbooks at the Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport and Atlantic City’s Ocean Resort Casino.

The companies started operating last Saturday night with a trial of their mobile sports betting operations. The mobile giants received authorization for a five-day testing period from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

William Hill and FanDuel’s entry into New Jersey’s mobile sports betting industry brings the number companies operating in the state to five.

Other companies operating in the state include PlaySugarHouse.com, Borgata casino, and Draft Kings, which operates in partnership with Resorts Casino.

As the sports betting industry in the states gets bigger, many other companies are eager to acquire a licence for mobile and online sports betting before the start of the NFL season, which starts Thursday night. The first match of the league is between Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons.

Six out of the nine casinos in Atlantic City, including in-person sports betting, now offer sports wagering, which could be considered a giant stride since PASPA was repealed by the US Supreme Court.

The Borgata started offering bets in June, becoming the first casino to offer sports bets in New Jersey.
