Houston versus New Orleans NFL Match History & Game Background
The Texans had a tough preseason losing Pro Bowl RB for the season with a knee injury and they sent former #1 pick Jadeveon Clowney to the Seattle Seahawks.
One of the key additions for the Texans was OT Laremy Tunsil and his play will be key for a Houston offensive line that was bad last season and gave up an NFL high 62 sacks.
The Saints lost to the Rams in OT in the NFC title game last season and they have the squad to go far against this season. Drew Brees, Alvin Kamara, and Michael Thomas lead a loaded offense and while New Orleans ranked 2nd in the NFL last season in run defense they only ranked 29th in pass defense.
These teams have not faced each other since 2015.
Houston QB DeShaun Watson passed for 4,165 yards last season with 26 TD and nine INT and WR DeAndre Hopkins (1,572 receiving yards) had the 2nd most receiving yards in the NFL. Houston has a good WR corps, but the rushing offense is a concern with the loss of Miler and the duo of Duke Johnson and Carlos Hyde, who combined for 772 rushing yards last season, will take the reps in the backfield and neither was with Houston last season.
Brees faltered a bit down the stretch last season, but still had a solid season. The team has star Michael Thomas and new TE Jared Cook, but the WR corps is still a little thin for the Saints.
Kamara makes New Orleans a much more balanced team in the run game and last season he rushed for 883 yards and had 709 receiving yards. Latavius Murry (578 rushing yards last season) will be the big bruising back with Mark Ingram gone.
Last season Houston’s defense ranked 3rd in the league against the run and only 28th against the pass, so it will be key for them that their pass rush, led by J.J. Watt (16 sacks last season) get to Brees in the backfield.

Panthers vs Rams NFL Match History & Game Background
The Rams begin their quest to win the NFC title again heading down south for their opener facing the Panthers as a slight 1.5-point favorite. L.A. recently gave QB Jared Goff a fat new contract and he has to live up to that and has to weapons around him to do it.
The Panthers were a disappointment last season when they went 7-9 and lost seven of their last eight games. Cam Newton is healthy heading into the season and recently stated that he, “like a rookie again.” He and Christian McCaffery are a great QB/RB duo that will be a handful for two-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald and the Rams defense.
These teams have not met since the 2016 season and the Panthers are 6-1 in their last seven games facing the Rams.
Goff passed for 4,688 yards last season with 32 TD and 12 INT and the WR duo of Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks each had over 1,200 receiving yards. Todd Gurley had another big season with 1,251 rushing yards and 580 receiving yards. The Rams can light it up and ranked in the top five in the NFL last season in passing and rushing yards per game.
The Panthers ranked 18th in the league last season in pass defense and while ranking a respectable 12th in run defense that unit was torched late in the season.
While the Panthers signed OL Matt Paradis in the off-season they lost the starters of Matt and Ryan Kalil and also lost WR David Funchess, who ranked 3rd on the team in receiving yards.
Cam Newton was not the same after he injured his shoulder in the middle of last season where he passed for 3,395 yards with 24 TD and 13 INT. McCaffery is the player the Rams really have to worry about on defense, as the all-everything RB rushed for 1,098 yards last season and led the team with 867 receiving yards. The WR corps for the Panthers is decent at best, but they will look to run the ball in this game and get short passes to McCaffery.
The Rams were pretty good defending the pass last season, but even with Donald, who lead the NFL with 20.5 sacks, the run defense only ranked 23rd and that is a big issue for this game facing the run-first Panthers.

LA Rams vs Carolina Panthers Predictions, Picks & Tips
This one is a tough call as the odds from the best NFL Betting sites suggests, but going with the Rams with the many weapons they have; despite the H2H history siding heavily with the Panthers and the home turf advantage.
The Rams may not give Gurley a big workload in this opener trying to keep him fresh and manage his well documented health issues. Goff will have a solid game and he will light up the Carolina pass defense. Newton and McCaffery will play well, but in a close affair the Rams will win this NFC matchup and cover the short spread.

Vikings vs Falcons Match History & Game Background
These teams met last in the 2017 season.
The Falcons were beset by injuries last season and it cost them in their 7-9 season. RB Devonta Freeman was limited to two games because of various injuries and the previous season playing 14 games he rushed for 865 yards and also had 311 receiving yards.
Even with the Falcons disappointing season Matt Ryan had a big one passing for 4.924 yards with 35 TD and only seven INT and it was the 8th straight season he has passed for at least 4,000 yards. Star WR Julio Jones led the NFL last season with 1,677 yards and rookie Calvin Ridley led the team with 10 TD.
Minnesota has not changed many faces on the defensive side of the football, and they should have a solid unit again. Last season they were one of the better teams defending the pass, but only ranked in the middle of the pack defending the run.
The Vikings were 8-7-1 last season in their first one with Kirk Cousins at the help and while he passed for 4,298 yards with 30 TD and 10 INT the offense was an inconsistent one failing to surpass 10 points in four games. Still, he has one of the best WR duos in the league in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs, who combined for 215 catches, 2,394 yards, and 18 TD.
Dalvin Cook is the lead RB and the Vikings have high hopes for the 3rd year back. He led the team with 615 rushing yards last season in only 11 games and he is healthy heading into the season.
One of the big reasons the Falcons did not make the playoffs was because of their defense. They only ranked 25th in the league against the pass and 27th against the run. However, injuries hit the D hard and LB Deion Jones and S Keanu Neal each missed several games.
The Vikings were 5-3 at home last season and they could use a good start this season with two of their next three games on the road facing the Packers and Bears.

Falcons vs Vikings Predictions, Picks & Tips
Both of these teams look to bounce back after missing out on the playoffs last season. Both teams also have a solid offense with Matty Ice and Cousins and pass defense will be key in this game.
The Falcons will be a much better defensive unit than they were last season and that will be clearly demonstrated from the outset In what could well prove to a very dour struggle, home ground advantage could see the Minnesota Vikings claim a tight win; but as an NFL betting strategy we are tipping the Atlanta Falcons to cover the spread.
